· History: The Church Of Saint Luke in the Fields is founded in 1820 by some residents of Greenwich. The church and its garden used be at the edge of the Hudson River, often accessed by boat, until Manhattan was expanded by landfills. After St. Luke’s became a chapel of Trinity Church, they constructed a gymnasium, a school building and a playground to serve the increasing number of neighbors. Also the garden was added in 1956.
